Look, we're not gonna pretend sustainability is just a checkbox on a form. For us, it's the whole point - and honestly, it's been that way since before it was trendy.
Every project we touch needs to leave the world a bit better than we found it. That's not marketing speak, that's just how we roll.
These aren't hypothetical numbers - this is what we've actually achieved across our projects since 2018
kWh Energy Saved Annually
Liters Water Conserved
Tonnes CO2 Offset
Materials Diverted from Landfill
Yeah, we've got the badges - but here's the thing: we don't chase certifications just to slap logos on a website. These frameworks genuinely help us design smarter buildings that perform better over time.
We're active members of the Canada Green Building Council, and most of our team holds specialized accreditations. But certifications are just the starting point - real sustainability happens in the details, the material choices, the construction methods, and how a building actually functions once people start using it.
We've been LEED AP certified since 2015 and have delivered 23 LEED-certified projects, ranging from Silver to Platinum.
Trained in the rigorous Passive House standard - because sometimes you need buildings that barely need heating or cooling.
Active contributors to Canada's green building movement and Zero Carbon Building standards.
Certified in energy simulation software - we model performance before breaking ground, not after.
Because green buildings should also be healthy buildings - air quality, light, and wellness matter.
Designing for today's standards and tomorrow's net-zero carbon requirements.
Sustainability isn't a separate service we tack on - it's baked into everything
We start with passive design strategies - orientation, thermal mass, natural ventilation. Then layer in high-performance envelopes and efficient systems. Solar panels are great, but they shouldn't compensate for lazy design.
Local sourcing when possible, reclaimed materials when it makes sense, low-VOC everything. We track embodied carbon because the emissions from manufacturing and transport often exceed operational energy over a building's lifetime.
Rainwater harvesting, greywater systems, native landscaping that doesn't need constant irrigation. In Toronto's climate, we can capture and reuse a surprising amount of water - we've got clients who barely touch municipal supply for landscaping.
The greenest building is often the one that's already standing. Our heritage restoration work proves you can modernize performance without erasing history. We've taken century-old buildings and brought them to near-Passive House standards.
We don't just design and disappear - we monitor how our buildings actually perform. Here's data from one of our commercial projects in downtown Toronto, tracked over the past year.
Data collected from our 2022 office renovation at 88 Queens Quay - 58% reduction in energy use compared to code minimum. We're targeting net-zero through additional solar PV in phase 2.
Using timber framing and recycled materials cut embodied carbon by roughly 45% vs. conventional steel/concrete.
of building energy from on-site renewables
Phase 2 expansion will add another 65 kW of solar capacity, targeting 50% renewable energy.
Here's what we don't see talked about enough: sustainable design costs more upfront. There, we said it. Usually 3-8% more depending on ambition level and project type.
But here's the flip side - those buildings perform better, cost less to operate, maintain their value longer, and create healthier spaces. Our LEED Gold office renovation pays for itself in energy savings in about 7 years. After that? Pure savings, plus you're not burning fossil fuels to keep the lights on.
We get it though - budgets are real, and not every project can hit Platinum certification. That's fine. We'd rather see you implement the most impactful measures within your budget than skip sustainability altogether because perfection feels out of reach.
Whether you're planning new construction, renovating an existing building, or just trying to figure out what's realistic for your budget - we're happy to walk through it with you.
First consultation is always free. We'll look at your site, discuss your goals, and give you an honest assessment of what's achievable. No sales pitch, no pressure - just straight talk from people who've been doing this for a while.
